RTW & Why
Only, bike journeys until 2025.
Ever since I got my first moped, I have been fascinated by two-wheel travel. First, I did Croatia, Italy and Slovenia’s plus surrounding countries, then more of Europe and North Africa. But at some point, you do not have the time to carry on as you run out of annual leave or cash, and the children are hungry too.
So, instead, you watch travel documentaries and YouTube channels for the next 20 years. But at some point, your children do not need you anymore, and that travel bug slowly creeps back in. Then you have to decide how important that dream is. At 58, you realise that there are not as many years left for you to decide.
In my case, it was important enough that I quit my job to travel full-time and solely rely on this magical thing called YouTube to support me. It is March 2025 now, and I have no idea if it will work for me as planned, but I will give it my best shot. I’m hoping for a minimum of five to seven years of travel full-time, with occasional breaks to receive some TLC back home.
PS. If you are lucky enough to have a partner that supports you in your endeavours, you are one lucky fellow, and I’m one of those (thank you Janina).
Time-lapse of intended journeys
2025
The BLUE bit for 2025
My initial plan was to ride to Asia in 2025 but because of the conflict and closed borders between India and Pakistan I intend to visit Nordcup in Norway instead. Test the bike and all of the gadgetry that will be used in documenting my Shenanigans in the next X years. Trip will start in early June 2025 and will not last more than two months. When completed, I have a space booked for Huso on a ship transporting it to Valparaiso, Chile where I will be collecting him in early December 2025 and crack on with the American part of the RTW story.
2026
Down and Up Americas, 2026
The plan is, that I will start my RTW journey in the Americas and see what they have to offer. Covering Ushuaia to Prudho Bay as every ADV rider should in order to justify a purchase of GS GS-type of Adventure machine.
2027/28
Going to the right, 2027
Providing that there are no wars in this part of the world and that I will still be drivable, I would love to explore Russia, Mongolia, Japan…
2029 and beyond
Asia or perhaps Mars, 2029+
Of course, there is still Asia to be discovered, but lets do one thing at a time
… also depending on how successful Mr. Musk will be with the Mars mission in the next four years, I do not exclude the possibility to visit it, but I would probably need to go electric for that one. There is still Africa to ride, I guess in this decade if Musk fails.
